Margaret Conway, President

With 20 years’ experience tackling reproductive health, the environment, and gay rights, Margaret has organized, galvanized, and evangelized support for some of the most pressing and controversial issues of our day. Her consulting practice centers on issue advocacy, with a specialty in strategic communications. 

Prior to starting ConwayStrategic, Margaret was the Sr. Vice President at DDB Issues & Advocacy, a worldwide communications firm, and director of its Washington office. There, her awards included some of the highest in the industry, including a Cannes Gold Lion, a Clio, a Telly, three Pollies, and others. 

Her non-profit experience includes serving as the national Political Director of the Sierra Club, where she managed a multi-million dollar independent expenditure campaign. As the Managing Director of the Human Rights Campaign, she oversaw 90 person staff and a $10 million budget. As the Associate Vice President for Public Policy at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, she helped start their first political action committee and their first online organizing effort. She recently served on the board of the Global AIDS Alliance and the Victory Fund Campaign Board.

Margaret has authored two political campaign manuals and appeared frequently before the national press. She is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz, and received her master’s degree in public policy from George Washington University. She lives with her partner and their daughter in Washington, D.C.
